Intrigued by the potential health benefits and inspired by the movie Simply Raw, Owner, Helen Liba, decided to learn more, taking classes at centres in Chicago and Puerto Rico and discovered that raw food, while simple, goes far beyond veggies and dip.
Liba, who is also a healing massage practitioner and biofeedback technician at Superior Shores Wellness Centre, soon began developing her own recipes and decided to make her dream of opening a café a reality with the intention of raising the consciousness of all sentient beings through living foods.
"Bliss-full customers, continually expressing their gratitude, are truly the motivation which inspires joy and bliss for us at the cafe," says Liba, "We are always evolving ourselves and the cafe to better serve and teach people who are searching for more information on plant based foods and wholehearted living."
Basically, raw food (sometimes called live or living food) is food that has not been cooked or exposed to temperatures over 118° F. At that temperature, the natural enzymes in food are destroyed. Enzymes are essential for all the chemical processes in your body, especially digestion.
At Bliss Cafe we also purchase as much organic and local food as possible, and dehydrate many foods at harvest time to preserve them for the winter.

Food is a love note from God. The letters are written by the rays of the sun.
It says I love you and I shall take care of you and sustain you with the offerings of my earth. Take time to read the love letter by chewing carefully and feel the messages stored in the food by the sun, earth, wind and water. Thanking those who have grown, harvested, and prepared the food. It’s assimilation takes on a new meaning, a holy sacrament
to experience, slowly, carefully, and consciously.
Q: What do you love about your community?
A: What I love about our community is the enthusiasm to work together, support each other, and help one another grow towards healing the planet and all sentient beings.
Q: What gives you clarity?
A: Being with my garden, sitting quietly with my two cats, my tribe and the people passing through at the café give me clarity and insight. And when I remember to do so, living in love, kindness and understanding always leads me to a clear view of my surroundings and inner goings on.
Q: What are you grateful for?
A: I am particularly grateful for all the experiences I've had in my life, both negative and positive, which have coalesced and in part led me to become the person I am today. I'm also grateful to be a part of the café, none of us are related, but we form a rather peculiar happy little family.
